Listening Comprehension

Listen to the dialogue and see if you hear anything new in it. Read the notes below to do some supplementary self-learning.

Notice anything new? When the man greeted the woman, he said 你好 twice. Some Chinese people may repeat 你好 when greeting others because they want to be extra polite or show their cordial attitude.
Anything else? We heard another word 免貴. You know that 貴 means “honorable”. 免 here means “to remove” or “to exempt” and is pronounced as “miǎn”. So 免貴 expresses humility, as if you’re saying, “please spare the honorific word, I’m just an ordinary person.” If people want to be extra polite, they may use 免貴 before giving the surname.

Now, listen to the dialogue again and answer the following questions.

Q.7
What is the woman’s surname? *

Q.8
What is the man’s full name? *

Q.9

Q.10
